Just writing to let you know we haven't fallen off of the face of the earth, nor have we forgotten about our blogging duties. This week was the first week back to work/school at ISU for me and Sean is continuing his full time job a Galloway's. That in itself has been an adventure, but we did manage to slip in a few fun things.
Thursday night we went out with our friend Jesse for his birthday. We went to see Maria Falzone, a comedian who comes to ISU every year and informs people about sex. After that we snuck a late dinner into the movie theater to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Overall it was a pretty good night and the film wasn't awful either I suppose... at least it had James Franco in it.
Last night we went to the Downtown Terre Haute Block Party and that was pretty fun. We both had to work, so by the time we got over there most of the booths had already been taken down, but there was still quite a bit going on. There were many vendors, I think my favorite was the booth that was selling handcarved wooden bowls.There were also 4 stages set up playing live music. While we were there we commited to running the ISU Homecoming 5K in October, so wish us out-of-shapers luck! Training begins today.

August 11th-19th
The past week has been chocked full of fantastic adventures.
On Thursday (the 11th), we went on a roadside oddities road trip. Most of our sites were in Bruceville, Indiana with a couple further south that we never really got around to. We saw the famous giant coke bottle, made in 1949 for a coke plant in Indianapolis and it's the only one of it's kind, it's about the size of a truck! Another stop on our journey was The Blue Flash- a homemade roller coaster built right in a Bruceville resident's back yard! This was a pretty spectacular site to see with an impressive 360 degree corkscrew and did i mention it starts on top of his barn? But my favorite oddity of the trip was the Giant Peach and it's partner the Yellow Obelisk. These monuments are supposed to reflect the futuristic utopian structures of the Trylon and Perisphere from the New York World's Fair of 1939 (which i had to look up by the way!) But it's a really sweet, mid-westerny small town depiction. We shared a fresh peach cider from their market then loaded back up into the car and headed down to Vincennes for a nice long bike tour of the city.
Monday (the 15th), we took a trip down to Santa Claus, In for some fun in the sun in Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. It was my first time down a giant water slide and it was a BLAST. We went down all of the slides and even did some twice. It was fun to run around in our swim suits and basically be kids for the day. On our way home we stopped in a beautiful city called Huntingburg for chinese. The food was delicious, but i think we enjoyed roaming the town even more and dreaming about our future hometown(s).
And then last but not least, on Thursday (the 18th) we embarked on our longest bike ride yet. The trip started off as a trip to discover the National Heritage Trail that starts in Terre Haute, but the trail ended just outside of the city. Obviously, we had already planned our entire day around this journey, so we decided that we would just bike US 40 to Brazil instead. The roughly 20 mile ride took us about 2 hours. Over lunch we had a decision to make. We could either turn around and retrace our tracks back to Terre Haute or keep on going towards Greencastle, which is another 27 miles or so. We figured, "What the heck!" and chugged right on along to my hometown. By the end of our 47 mile journey I think we were both wondering what the heck we were thinking. But after everything is said and done, we are both really glad we took on the ride. It was an awesome journey that really tested our limits and let us prove to ourselves just how strong and capable we really are.
From now on I'll try to post more regularly so that there aren't so many stories in one post, but as you can see it's been a pretty busy week! Blog at you later, feel free to leave a comment =)

ritualistic introductory post
hello blogger world! we are an adventure seeking couple who never misses a chance for a road trip, bike ride or whatever comes to mind. that's why we created this blog, to document our adventures as they happen so we don't let any slip away. sit back and enjoy the ride =)
